Declaration: Asean and International NGO Initiatives for Humanitarian Aid and Peace Advocacy to Save
We, the delegates of the Asean and international NGOs meeting today in an emergency meeting on the Syrian crises have reached a consensus to draft an action plan to initiate a movement to call for peace and humanity for Syria.
With the current devastation and human catastrophe beseiging Syria, we are very saddened by the incapacity of the world community to stop the bloodshed and suffering of the whole populace of Syria.
We belief that the increasing blatant external intervention that has turn a people's upraising against a tirany into a sectarian conflict and now into a proxy war of foreign powers . This has converted Syria into a nation of ruins.
We are shocked and disappointed that UN Security Council has rejected the proposal for ceasefire and the accessibility for humanitarian aid to Aleppo by using the veto power of the council. We condemn the rejection which has reflected the inhuman insensitivity of the super power towards the oppressed people of Syria.
Syria now has become a battle field for superpowers galvanizing their military might to destroy the nation completely. The war is no more about a struggle for self determination for the people of Syria, but a total annihilation of the country with every proxy waging their own self interest to control Syria.
We are outraged by the inability of the world community to stop the suffering of the people of Syria. The continuing bloodshed from relentless airial bombing by the regime and aided by Russian invading the air space under the pretext of hunting down the ISIS fighters is nothing more that a scheme to offset its biggest contender that is the US.
Thousands upon thousands are extingushed , while millions are made homeless by the endless assult without any human feeling.
Syria’s civil war is the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. Half the country’s pre-war population — more than 11 million people — have been killed or forced to flee their homes.
Families are struggling to survive inside Syria, or make a new home in neighboring countries. Others are risking their lives on the way to Europe, hoping to find acceptance and opportunity. And harsh winters and hot summers make life as a refugee even more difficult. At times, the effects of the conflict can seem overwhelming.
But one fact is simple: millions of Syrians need our help. According to the U.N., it will take $7.7 billion to meet the urgent needs of the most vulnerable Syrians in 2016.
You can help. The more you know about the crisis, the more we can do together to help those in need. The lifesaving work we do, helping people survive conflict and build brighter futures, is only possible with your knowledge and support.
We have decided not to waste any more time but to galvanise our resources to initiatiate the following actions:
